This Christmas, our centre is set to sparkle brighter than ever as Beauty and the Beast takes to the stage – and this year, some amazing local young performers will be stepping into the spotlight too!

Earlier this month, we held open auditions that saw an incredible 49 talented youngsters aged 9–18 from across Oxfordshire sing, dance, and act their hearts out. The energy was electric, and it was clear that Didcot is bursting with passion for the performing arts.

After some tough decisions (because the standard was so high!), 24 children were chosen to form three chorus teams of eight. These rising stars will bring extra magic to the stage as villagers, enchanted castle servants, and even mischievous minions causing trouble for the baddie, Grimalkin.

Darren Maddison, Company Director of Polka Dot Pantomimes, shared his excitement:

“The auditions showed us just how much young talent there is in Didcot. We can’t wait to see our three chorus teams bring energy, sparkle, and fun to the show – they’re going to help make this pantomime truly unforgettable.”

Cllr Georgina Heritage, Cabinet Member for Communities at South Oxfordshire District Council, added:

“It’s fantastic that so many young people will get the chance to perform in a professional pantomime right here at Cornerstone. Opportunities like this build confidence, skills, and lasting memories – I can’t wait to see them light up the stage.”

With dazzling costumes, toe-tapping songs, magical special effects and plenty of laughs, Beauty and the Beast is the perfect festive treat for the whole family.

Rehearsals kick off on 9 December, and the curtain rises on Thursday 18 December, running right through until Wednesday 31 December 2025.

Don’t miss the chance to cheer on our talented local stars and experience the magic for yourself – book your tickets now via our website or Box Office!
