Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot is getting ready to celebrate Christmas this year with a range of shows and workshops to suit all ages.

Everything starts on Sunday 3 December as part of the Play2Give Didcot Festive Market in the Market Place next door to Cornerstone.

Thames Con and Cornerstone present a fun and festive afternoon, showing one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time, A Muppets Christmas Carol from 3pm. This will be followed by a Q&A with some very special guests.

The cast from a Heart of Winter, the family Christmas Show, will be trying to make it snow in the courtyard, and there’ll be a festive free Christmas craft drop-in where the public can create wintery snowflake suncatchers.

Friday 8 December Cornerstone’s resident DJ, DJ Strange, will be getting everyone in the festive mood with the Cornerstone Christmas Party, tickets are £10 and everyone coming along will get a free drink.

On Saturday 9 December, the Oxford Gospel Choir have hired the venue for their evening of Christmas Soul.

Thursday 14 December, 100 Watt Club: A Burlesque Christmas Special, will be on stage, jam packed full of festive, glittering showgirls, bawdy comedy, classic vaudeville and awe inspiring circus acts – this one is for over 18s only!

Friday 15 December has a little something for young and those a little older. During the day there’s The Flight Before Christmas for babies and children under 4 and their families, an interactive, sensory theatre experience bursting with the sights, sounds and smells of the festive season.

And in the evening some incredible festive jazz. Performing will be the incomparable jazz duo Fleur Stevenson and Hugh Turner. No booking required for this event, just turn up and enjoy the music.

And finally, the family Christmas show Heart of Winter starts Monday 18 December. Christmas is coming, and Sally can't sleep – it's far too hot! The weather has gone topsy-turvy. No-one can remember the last time it snowed. To help her sleep Dad reads her a story about the last snowflake.

This magical production warmly celebrates family, the joy of friendship, and the wonder of finding the perfect winter we really need and want.

Heart of Winter runs through to Christmas Eve, Sunday 24 December.

Cllr Maggie Filipova-Rivers, Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “Cornerstone really is embracing Christmas this year and there’s so much choice. I can’t wait to come along to see some of the shows. I’m looking forward to the Festive Market, warming up with a hot chocolate at Café Nourish and getting crafty with the snowflake suncatchers – I’m sure my daughter will love that too!”

All the details about the Christmas Shows can be found on our website or pop into the centre and speak to the Box Office Team.
