Mini musicians and scientists create the sounds of space!

Posted on 21 Apr 2016

Year 3 children from Wantage and Ladygrove Park primary schools became scientists and musicians for the day as part of a four day interactive project.

Around 110 pupils enjoyed the workshops, run by composer Helen Papaioannou and Chris Pearson, scientist and STEM ambassador at STFC RAL Space in April.

Helen said: "The children took part in music and science activities to help them learn about our solar system, including making a human orrery and playing the sounds of the planets.

"They then used their imaginations to create new planets, and brought them to life with musical compositions."

Composer Helen used the children's recordings to create an original electro-acoustic composition, which she played back to them at the end of the workshops.
