Please find below info from the Blewbury Players:

Our 2019 play is ‘The Crucible” by Arthur Miller and our Director will be Sebastian Palka. Sebastian made his Blewbury debut directing the very popular Great Expectations in 2017.

Based on the Salem witch trials of 1693, and an allegory of the American McCarthy era, the Crucible is a powerful play. It is Arthur Miller’s version of the medieval witch test. In Miller’s community, you betray or are betrayed by your neighbour, whose testimony is enough to convict you and your plea of innocence is itself evidence of guilt. The Players first performed the Crucible in 1979. It is serious stuff with strong characters raising questions about the sort of society we want to live in and the sort of people we want to be.

Blewbury Players suggest this production is not suitable for those under 12 years of age.

The play starts at 8pm sharp and at 3pm for the Saturday matinee.

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and have it in the Orchard Dene gardens before the play, from 7.00 pm. Alternatively, The Players can provide a picnic. A picnic order form is available at blewburyplayers.co.uk . A bar will be available from 7.00 pm and during the interval. Remember evenings can be chilly – warm clothing is advisable. For the matinee the garden will open at 2.15 pm and free non-alcoholic refreshments will be available during the interval.
