No need for panic! Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot has it all covered with events for the whole family from your little ones to your too-cool-for-school teens! A quirky puppetry marvel of a kids show. The Elves and the Shoemakers follows Sam Lacey who makes shoes that are out of this world. His imagination is HUGE, but his shoe-making business is a disaster until one night, two tiny green visitors climb into his kitchen and start stitching and cutting and snipping and gluing... he's about to have the surprise of a lifetime! Produced by Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company, a spirited company making inspiring theatre for bold adventurers. Led by Artistic Director Niki McCretton, they work with children, families, artists and theatres across the globe to make memorable and rewarding shows. Coming to us on Sun 16 Feb at both 1pm & 4pm with tickets from £7.50.
Join us for a fun and playful yoga practice, followed by an hour of art, illustration and creativity! All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary. This class is for KS1 children and will run on Tue 18 Feb from 10:30am till 12pm at the low price of £15.
Beginner's Latin and Ballroom Dancing
Has your little one been inspired by Strictly Come Dancing? Come and try a number of popular Latin and Ballroom dances all to songs children love! This fun workshop is designed to introduce young dancers to the world of ballroom dance. Suitable for both boys and girls, with no need for specialist dance fear or a partner, just sign up. This workshop is suitable for School Years 1 to 6 will run on Wed 19 Feb from 2pm to 5pm for just £25.
Practice the fundamentals of breakin' in this modern, high-energy class. After you've got the basics, you will apply your originality, flow, musicality, and finesse to a choreographed routine. Each student will gain a basic understanding of the origin of breakin' and develop the confidence to explore their own style of movement. This workshop is best for School Years 7 to 13 and will be held on Thu 20 Feb at 11am till 12pm for just £15.
For your older ones in school years 7 to 13 we have this theatre workshop where they can learn a variety of techniques for creating a narrative through movement and storytelling in this workshop. The young performers will develop a short physical theatre piece, which will be performed at the end of the session which you are welcome to attend! This will be held on Fri 21 Feb from 10:30am till 12:30pm for £20.
Award winning comedy musicians Bowjangles present their most magical show so far - a theatrical, musical journey through myths, folklore, legends and a portal in a cello case in the quest to find the most priceless relic of all - a magical violin bow known as Excalibow. You can expect tales of monsters, ancient gods, historical figures and characters of pure fantasy in this action-packed show full of comedy, energy, and almost every musical genre you can imagine. And be warned - this one may contain traces of ABBA! Suitable for all ages, coming to us on Fri 21 Feb at 7:30pm with tickets from £10.
Featuring exquisite music, Artic landscapes and a cast of extraordinary puppets, Yana and the Yeti is aimed at family audiences (5+). This is a dark, funny, and poignant tale of a small child's determination to be understood and her discovery that friends can come in the most unexpected shapes and sizes. This show was made in Northern Norway, above the Arctic circle where Yetis still exist! A fun and cosy, despite its artic friends, production for everyone! Coming on Sun 23 Feb at 2:30pm with tickets from £7.50.
Make Your Own Bedroom Decorations
Bring your craft loving tots to this class where they can look forward to creating their own personalised bedroom decorations! There will be an opportunity to create and bring home a selection of customised items made through collage, paint, handmade block printing and mark making. This is suitable for KS1 children on Sat 22 Feb from 1pm to 4pm, for just £25. All materials provided!
Youth Art Exhibition - The Graffiti Generation
In association with TRAIN and Didcot Girls' School with arts mentoring by Tommy Watkins. Graffiti is the newest contemporary art of today. Come and witness this art form as interpreted by local young artists from Didcot. Free to attend and will be displayed from Tue 11 Feb, you can also meet the young artists on Thu 11 Feb at 6pm.
