There is a small but dedicated team working at Cornerstone to make sure that all our vistors enjoy both our events and the venue.
The members of the team that you meet most often may be the Duty Managers and the Box Office team - but there's also our Centre Director, the operations, visual arts, participation, marketing, technical and administration teams - plus of course our dedicated crew of volunteers and casual workers.
Every few months we like to introduce you to a member of our highly prized team!
My job in a nutshell…
Budget management of Cornerstone’s main accounts and business administration.
Previously I was…
In HR at Vale of White Horse District Council.
Most memorable event at Cornerstone so far….
That’s hard – every day is different and I love it for that reason and because of the very professional and passionate colleagues I’m lucky to work with.
Which countries I visited on my trip of a lifetime ….
Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong (and hopefully it won’t be the only trip of my lifetime!)
Most amazing sight I saw on my trip …
Wow – so much but snorkelling the Whitsunday Islands was a particular favourite, loved Sydney and the madness of Hong Kong was fantastic. I swam with fish bigger than me which was both brilliant and scary – the sensation of ‘jumping’ in water is surreal and futile! I’m not sure what could beat the view from the plane as we were landing in Queenstown though. The Remarkables were truly breathtaking – New Zealand is just beautiful.
Hobbies…
Eating, sleeping (with thumbs in!), listening to music, laughing, singing, discovating, drinking cocktails, and obviously being with friends and family.
Favourite food whilst I was travelling…
Eating fresh grilled snapper caught by my partner on one of his fishing trips! It was delicious.
First record, cd or download…
One of my first albums was Bad Girls by Donna Summer - given to me by my mum’s friend (Jean I think?!) and my favourite track on it was Bad Girls (which I didn’t know at the time - was about ladies of the night!). I had a stereo that had lights in the corners that flashed to the beat so I used to peg a blanket to the curtain rail to make the bedroom dark. I’m very proud to admit I sang loud and danced all round the room - how I loved that record player! I’m pretty sure my ‘den’ making abilities evolved from this past time too! Toot toot, hey, beep beep...
If I could travel back again tomorrow, which place would I choose to go…
Defo Sydney – the buzz was amazing – I felt it before I’d even gotten off the train. Pulling up and seeing the harbour bridge in the sunshine is a memory that’ll stay with me. Australia is sooooo huge that it would be great to go back and see some more. There are loads more places I want to see though, so Oz will have to wait.
